At Least Six Lose Their Lives in Crowd Crush at Ghanaian Military Recruitment Event
No fewer than 6 individuals have lost their lives during a crowd crush at a armed forces enlistment event held in a sports arena in the West African nation.
The midweek "devastating" incident appeared to have been triggered by "a sudden rush of candidates who breached security protocols and stormed the gates," stated a release from Ghana's armed forces.
22 others were injured, among them five who remain in critical condition.
A large crowd had gathered at El-Wak stadium, in the capital, the capital, with the hope of joining the armed forces.
